Following England’s guaranteed place in South Africa 2010 Cole maintains his opinion that people’s perception of the England team will be changed for the better. He believes that after their successful win against Croatia the smile was firmly put back on the faces of the English fans following England’s absence from Euro 2008.

England coach Fabio Capello has had dramatic results since he arrived at the English training camp. His campaign to renew the spirit of belief has worked its magic so far and proved to be a success as far as qualifying for the World Cup goes.

Cole who joined Premier League Club Chelsea in 2006 after leaving Arsenal has enjoyed a good run of form so far playing for the country. Despite being booed after giving a goal away against Kazakhstan the defender has more than proved his quality on the field.

When asked if the new positive outlook would alter his miserable looking image during play Cole replied,

“When I play, that’s how I play, I’m afraid. I’m not miserable I am always laughing and joking along with my team-mates but its right that people want you to treat it like a job when you play. I don’t think other people laugh and joke all the time at work and I am not going to either.”

Love cheat Cole to date denies all allegations of an affair in a bid to save his marital crisis. However, single mum Aimee Walton, the young women whom he is said to have bedded remains adamant in her accusations which she says occurred following a night full of flirtations fuel by an ample supply of drink.

The alleged affair is said to have taken place at the same complex where Cole once lived with Ms Cole prior to their glamorous wedding in 2006. It is believed that Cole was out with several team mates and pals after they beat Sunderland 2-0.

More shock was revealed shortly after when glamour model Brook Healy claimed she was approached by Ashley Cole in a London night club just five month after his marriage to Cheryl. She has admitted that the pair slept together but was paid off some £6,000 by Cole to keep the whole thing quiet.

Cheryl Cole has been left devastated by these allegations and has said she will stand by her man as she really loves him. Despite the Girl’s Aloud star’s devastation she is determined to remain strong. Her family and friends on the other hand continue to mount the pressure that she leaves her cheating husband and moves on in her life to better things.

Cole, 28, was renowned for his many scuffles with former Man United star both in matches for Chelsea and England. Speaking to a tabloid newspaper he said,

“I miss playing against Cristiano Ronaldo, I really do. Manchester United doesn’t seem the same without him. I used to love our battles. If I’m concentrating, on my day I can do well against anyone, but he was something else.” Cole went on to say,

"I love his skills, but I nearly ripped my groin when I was first playing against him because he did a trick and I did the splits. My mates were killing me after and I thought, ‘Right, he’s never embarrassing me again’. A couple of years later at Chelsea I showed him the imaginary pocket in my shorts and their fans were lapping up the banter."

But the two players could possibly clash again playing for their respective countries after both countries qualified for the 2010 World Cup to be held in South Africa. Although England had no problem qualifying, Portugal on the other hand got off to a shaky start. Fortunately, their 4-0 victory over Malta sealed them a place in the play offs for the 2010 World Cup finals.

It appears that stories were published by News Group Newspapers insinuating that Cole was gay or at the very least bisexual. Although his name was not specifically mentioned there were photos published, however these were pixellated to conceal any identity.

Cole is said to be suing on the grounds of harassment, breach of privacy and libel. Although the footballer has not been named in the many articles published about his sexuality he is making it clear that they have been a breach of his privacy or false privacy. It has also been maintained that Cole is not particularly suing as a result of the original content of the said articles, but as a result of the many internet sites that are now pursuing speculation as to whether or not it is actually him in the photos. Since the initial publication of the scandalous photos showing two men, a music DJ and the alleged Mr Cole, several attempts have been made to trace the originals.

Regardless of whether or not the rumours of Ashley Coles bisexuality are true or not and even if he refuses to admit the truth, the soccer star is perfectly within his rights to protect and maintain his privacy. That is of course providing there is reasonable expectation that the private information can be protected. In this case the source of the original photos.

The incident occurred in March after Cole swore aggressively at police officers following a night out drinking with fellow team players, including captain John Terry. On leaving the bar and restaurant The Collection, some 1.3 miles from Chelsea’s home ground Stamford Bridge, Mr Cole was allegedly provoked by lingering paparazzi. This then led to him being escorted away by police officers, which then led him to lash out verbally and refuse to calm down.

Police had no option but to arrest the footballer on the grounds of drunk and disorderly behaviour. Cole was taken to a police station in South Kensington around 2.15 am where he was detained until 05.30 later that same morning.

According to a spokesman, “Mr Cole was held after swearing repeatedly at police and refusing to calm down after emerging from The Collection in South Kensington at around 2am.”

Cole was given an £80 fixed penalty and it is believed that no further action was taken. Chelsea manager Burim Maraj refused to comment on the incident until all the facts had been established. But he did say that prior to the arrest Cole had been present at a fundraising event alongside team mates, charity workers, celebrities and supporters in aid of raising crucial funds for two well known children’s charities.

Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Tweedy, now Cole after her marriage to Ashley on July 15 2006, was taking part in Comic Relief’s charity climb of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Despite a series of injuries, the 28 year old has produced a record number of club appearances, some 49 in total and entered into the book of records as the only man in the modern football era to win five FA Cups. Two of these are with his current club Chelsea in both 2007 and 2008 and the three remaining with his former London club Arsenal.

Cole began his career at Arsenal in the youth team and made his debut for the Gunners during the Worthington Cup at the age of just 18. During his time at Arsenal he spent 3 months on loan to Crystal palace at the end of the 1999/2000 season. He was soon made first choice as a left back for Arsenal’s premiership team the following season and Arsenal went on to not only win the Premiership title but also that of the FA Cup. Cole was to enjoy a further two FA Cup titles before being plagued with a series of injuries. He transferred to Chelsea in September 2006.

On the international front Ashley Cole secured a place in Sven Goran Eriksson’s first squad making his debut against Albania in 2001. The 2002 World Cup saw Cole in all five England matches and in the Euro 2004 he was credited as one of the nation’s star performers.
